Why Use An Exhaust Smart Fan?
Very few extractor fans on the market can be described as “Smart”. The Smart fan differs, it intelligently reacts to its environment, working almost autonomously because of its multiple sensors and the advanced technology associated with them.
Common activities increase the amount of moisture within a home, from washing machines, cooking or having a shower or bath.
It can also vary at any point through the day within a busy home or social housing situation due to peoples differing schedules and hygiene habits. This creates the perfect situation for mould to develop, as there is an abundance of warm and moist air in the property. There are also smells coming from the cooker that might be disagreeable to some of your family members or tenants.
- Ceiling, window or wall mounted extractor fan to suit any installation type (window kits available).
- Timers reduce night time activity – Prevents night time noise and saves energy
- Humdistat measures moisture, only boosting the fan when required, saving energy
- Cost effective due to low installation and maintenance costs, and energy saving technology.
- Quiet and aesthetically pleasing
Help prevent damp and mould growth
You can rest assured that this extractor fan has been tested under the strictest scenarios and is powerful and reliable enough to deal with even the busiest homes.
Will it cost a lot to run?
The approximate running cost of the Smart fan is 3/4-kg per annum.
Trickle Mode allows the fan to remove stale old air from your home with minimal energy consumption, so there is no fear of large bills as a result.
The boost function only kicks in when required, quickly eliminating excess moisture, reducing the time the unit needs to be working, thereby saving energy.
Smart 100mm Filterless Extractor Fan with Humidistat Timer and Data Logger
Compact and aesthetically pleasing, this continuously running extractor fan has inbuilt energy and noise reduction technologies to limit cost and noise disturbance, all whilst continuously removing stale, moist old air from the property.
A humidity sensor intelligently reacts to a sudden increase in air moisture levels, temporarily boosting the fan to extract at a faster rate. This reduces the humidity levels in your home, and prevents condensation and mould formation.
The unit is filterless as an extractor fan has no need to filter air being taken out of the property. As a result, this fan has the advantage of requiring no filter replacements, so there is less maintenance and the unit again saves you money, time and hassle.
The Smart extractor fan has been created for the convenience of both homeowners and landlords alike. A busy household and an apartment full of tenants can function in much the same way, people cooking and showering at different times of the day creates a lot of condensation.

The Essential Guide to Choosing the Right Bathroom Exhaust Fan
Introduction to Bathroom Ventilation
Proper ventilation in your bathroom is crucial for maintaining a healthy environment and preserving the integrity of your space. A high-quality bathroom exhaust fan is key to preventing mold, mildew, and other moisture-related issues. Whether you’re building a new home or upgrading your current bathroom, understanding the different types of bathroom extractor fans and their features can help you make the best choice for your needs.
Why You Need a Bathroom Exhaust Fan
Moisture Control
The primary function of a bathroom ceiling exhaust fan is to remove excess moisture. This helps prevent damage to paint, wallpaper, and fixtures, extending the lifespan of your bathroom materials.
Odor Elimination
A good bathroom extractor fan helps eliminate unpleasant odors, ensuring that your bathroom maintains a fresh and clean atmosphere.
Improved Air Quality
By extracting airborne contaminants and excess humidity, bathroom exhaust fans improve the overall air quality, which is especially important in rooms with little or no natural ventilation.
Types of Bathroom Exhaust Fans
Ceiling-Mounted Fans
The most common type, bathroom ceiling exhaust fans, are installed in the ceiling and vent through the roof or an exterior wall. They are effective at removing moist air directly from your bathroom.
Wall-Mounted Fans
These fans are installed in the wall and are a good alternative if ceiling mounting is not feasible. Wall-mounted fans work well in bathrooms located on the ground floor or where attic access is restricted.
Inline Fans
For larger bathrooms or those requiring powerful ventilation, inline fans are ideal. These systems involve a fan unit that is mounted away from the bathroom, usually in the attic, with ducting that connects to an exhaust point in the bathroom ceiling.
Choosing the Right Bathroom Extractor Fan
Size and Power
The size of the fan you need depends on the size of your bathroom. Generally, you should aim for a bathroom exhaust fan that provides at least 1 CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air movement for every square foot of room area. For bathrooms larger than 100 square feet, add the CFM requirements for each fixture (toilet, shower, bathtub).
Noise Level
Consider the noise level of the bathroom extractor fan. Noise is measured in sones; the lower the sones rating, the quieter the fan. A fan rated at 1 or 2 sones will provide a comfortable noise level.
Features
Modern bathroom ceiling exhaust fans come with various features such as humidity sensors, motion detectors, and built-in lights. These can enhance functionality and convenience, adjusting the fan’s operation to specific conditions or providing additional illumination.
Energy Efficiency
Look for bathroom extractor fans that are ENERGY STAR rated for energy efficiency. These models are better for the environment and will save you money on electricity bills over time.
Installation Considerations
Proper Venting
Ensure that your bathroom exhaust fan is vented to the outdoors, not just into an attic or crawl space. Improper venting can lead to moisture problems in other areas of your home.
Professional Installation
Consider hiring a professional to install your bathroom extractor fan, especially if you are not experienced with home electrical systems. Proper installation ensures that the fan operates efficiently and safely.

Barn –
I bought this to extract damp air from our basement. It is our first attempt at removing the damp smell. So far, it has decreased the humidity from 81% to 52%. I have it coming up from the basement ceiling through the lounge floor right next to my armchair, and then it goes out through the front wall of the house. It’s on constant turbo mode, and I can hardly hear it at all! It is much, much quieter than our bathroom shower extractor fan, even in turbo mode. Normal mode is practically silent! It does the job.

Works well, I like that you can change the settings and customize to your own needs.

Everything looks easy to clean, there are no nooks and crannies and a large air inlet grill behind the fascia panel will prove easy to keep clean with a brush or vacuum.
